IT Governance celebrates National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) by raising awareness of the basic online security

30/09/2016

IT Governance, the leading expert in cybersecurity and data protection, is celebrating National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) by raising awareness of the basic steps to online security and safety.

NCSAM starts October 3 2016. US organizations are being encouraged to review and regularly update their information security processes and procedures, up-skill in-house staff and employees, and take measures to protect their valuable assets.

This week’s theme encourages organizations to equip employees with the basics of cyber security best practice in order to help them avoid falling victim to malware and phishing attacks. IT Governance aims to raise awareness of basic cybersecurity practices and provide organizations with the expertise to up-skill their in-house staff.

Alan Calder, the founder and chief executive officer of IT Governance, said: “During National Cyber Security Awareness Month, we aim to provide our expertise and experience in cybersecurity and data protection and help raise awareness of the best practices in cyber security. September saw a high number of data breaches, the recent Yahoo! case in particular being a wake-up call for organizations worldwide on the importance of cyber security.”

To help organizations familiarize their non-technical staff with security awareness policies, IT Governance provides an online Information Security Staff Awareness e-learning course, which is designed to help reduce human error and equip employees with an understanding of information security risks and compliance requirements.

The Information Security Staff Awareness e-learning course will introduce staff to subjects such as information security, passwords, wireless network security settings, phishing, social media, illegal websites, backups, information security at work, information security documentation, incidents and business continuity.

Individuals interested in achieving internationally recognized cybersecurity qualifications can also take advantage of IT Governance’s ISO 27001 Certified ISMS Foundation Online training course, designed for delegates based in the United States.

The live online training session, delivered by IT Governance’s in-house experts, is designed to equip delegates with a comprehensive understanding of the risks associated with cyber crime, and the stages of implementing an ISO 27001-compliant information security management system (ISMS), including information about risk assessments, Annex A controls, and the business benefits of achieving ISO 27001 certification.
