IT Governance, the leading provider of cyber security and data protection expertise, is encouraging professionals involved in EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance projects to take part in the 2018
GDPR Survey for a chance to win a £350 voucher.
IT Governance’s
GDPR Survey is designed to evaluate the level of awareness organizations have of the GDPR and assess the progress achieved with their compliance project. Based on the survey results IT Governance will be publishing a report, which aims to inform the development of comprehensive solutions for GDPR compliance that are suited to the challenges faced by data protection professionals.
Alan Calder, the founder and chief executive officer of IT Governance, said: “This is the second year we’ll be running a GDPR survey to assess the progress organizations are making in terms of GDPR compliance. Last year’s
GDPR Report on implementation challenges and milestones for early adopters showed that organizations were at the planning stage or were just starting to work towards GDPR compliance.
“In 2018, we expect that many organizations are compliant with the GDPR or are working towards it. However, we do expect to find a few companies who have not begun their project yet, which considering the law will come into force on 25 May 2018 and imposes extortionate fines for companies that are in breach with the Regulation, is concerning.”
Many organizations in the United States will be required to comply with a mixture of state, federal, industry-specific, and international cybersecurity regulations. There are significant challenges to overcome when trying to achieve compliance with multiple laws, regulations, and standards, and thus different organizations can adopt a variety of compliance strategies, which may lead to gaps and mistakes.
The 2017 GDPR Report emphasized the lack of skills and resources required to help organizations achieve GDPR compliance as one of the main challenges faced by organizations. Furthermore, results suggested that professionals were struggling with conducting risk assessments, creating policies and procedures, and conducting a data protection impact assessment or a data audit in compliance with the Regulation.
IT Governance would like to hear from data protection professionals about what their business is doing, or planning to do, in order to achieve compliance with the GDPR. All the responses to the survey will be treated anonymously and participants can opt in to receive a copy of the report.
Moreover, participants in the GDPR Survey have the chance to win a $500 IT Governance voucher, which can be used on their own professional development or to help support GDPR compliance projects.
